'Over the moon': Danny Malin shares his experience at the Brit Awards 2026 as he joins Harry Styles & Dua Lipa

"Now then, guys!" is a phrase usually heard outside a Yorkshire chippy or a hidden gem kebab van - but this past weekend, it made its way to a huge UK awards ceremony.

Eagle-eyed viewers who were watching the TV coverage of the BRITs over the weekend might have spotted a familiar-looking face, admittedly not in front of his familiar-looking table - one YouTube sensation and Yorkshire Evening Post columnist, Danny Malin.

The man behind the Danny vs Food phenomenon left fans stunned as he made a surprise appearance at the Co-Op Live Arena in Manchester; introduced by host Jack Whitehall as a ‘cult icon,’ the Barnsley-born reviewer was invited to rub shoulders with a star-studded lineup including Harry Styles, Dua Lipa, Luke Littler, and Angry Ginge.

Reflecting on the whirlwind experience, Danny said: "I was over the moon to be asked to set up my table and chair at the Brits and dine with the stars.

“It’s hard to believe that food reviewing online could bring me so many opportunities."

The appearance marks a triumphant moment in what has been a deeply personal journey for the creator. After rising to viral fame during the pandemic while working at a butcher’s, Danny became the face of Rate My Takeaway before striking out on his own last autumn with his independent channel, Danny vs Food.

However, the road to the red carpet hasn't been without its hurdles. Speaking about the significance of the night, Danny shared: "These past couple of years have been challenging, having suffered two strokes and mental health problems, as well as deciding to leave Rate My Takeaway.

"But knowing that Danny vs Food is now doing amazing and all independently run by me - then being invited to appear live at the Brits - was just incredible and a real ‘pinch me’ moment."

While he might have been trading "Knackercrackers" with the elite of the music world, Leeds fans will be relieved to know that Danny isn't trading the gravy for the glitz permanently.

Whether he’s at the Co-Op Live or the local takeaway, you can bet the table and chair aren't going anywhere.
