'We're overwhelmed at £10k boost for Mission Christmas toy appeal'
Thousands of children across West Yorkshire are set to wake up to smiles this Christmas after a charity received a major festive boost from a £10,000 donation.
Cash for Kids, in Leeds, has received a huge boost this festive period after it was awarded £10,000 from Persimmon Homes’ Charitable Foundation.
The donation is supporting the annual Mission Christmas campaign, which is backed by the Yorkshire Evening Post, to ensure that thousands of toys go to disadvantaged children across West Yorkshire.
It comes just a week after the charity pleaded for more donations with fears that nearly 11,000 children still needed toys to wake up to on Christmas Day.

Lisa Sullivan, charity manager of Cash for Kids North and West Yorkshire, said: “It is so overwhelming to receive a donation of £10,000 from the Persimmon Charitable Foundation.
“This donation couldn’t have a come at a better time, when we still have many thousands of children that still need our help.
“With this donation we have bought gifts for the older children. We can’t thank them enough for their extreme generosity and kindness”

Anthony Vigor, chair of the Persimmon Foundation, said: “We are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause this Christmas. It’s so moving to see the work that is going in to supporting local families and we are proud to play a small part in helping Cash for Kids in their mission this year.
“The Persimmon Foundation works to support communities local to us and we know this donation will make a real difference to so many families.”
The Persimmon Charitable Foundation was set up in 2015 to help support communities across the country, with a particular focus on young people.
Since 2021, the Foundation has donated more than £3 million to good causes.
