Full updating list of cancelled Leeds trains as ‘extreme weather’ on June 25 - latest
Rail passengers face another day of disruption ⚠️
People travelling by train to and from Leeds are being warned that more cancellations are expected throughout the day due to the on-going heatwave.
An ‘extreme’ heat health warning remains in place for the city today (June 25) and as a result passengers face even more disruption. All of the major rail companies have issued advice for travellers for this week.
Temperatures are expected to reach more than 30C degrees in Leeds once again, with another warm day also forecast tomorrow (June 26). The heat will ease over the weekend, according to the latest predictions.
In an update to passengers, Northern warns: “Due to the continued extreme heat, Northern have significantly reduced the number of trains running on routes in and out of Manchester, and services remain in high demand.
“Northern strongly recommend customers consider whether their journey is necessary and if customers do choose to travel this week, they are advised to prepare for significantly longer waiting times, busy trains and short-notice cancellations.”
Echoing that warning, LNER has also said: “With the hottest temperatures forecast for Wednesday 24 June and Thursday 25 June, LNER strongly recommend that you do not travel across the LNER route on these dates.
“For safety reasons, Network Rail may need to introduce speed restrictions in certain parts of the country on these dates, increasing journey times and reducing the number of train services able to operate.”
TransPennine Express added: “Although TransPennine Express are expecting to run a normal service over this period, you are strongly advised to check before you travel on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June. Services across the network may be subject to short-notice changes and alterations.”
We will keep updating this article throughout the day with the latest travel updates. See all of the arrivals and departures cancelled on Thursday, June 25.
