Amazon’s jumbo vacuum storage bags fall to £11.38

Bulky duvets, winter coats and spare pillows can consume an impressive amount of cupboard space, but a discounted set of vacuum storage bags promises to shrink them considerably.

The seven-pack of MEIQIHOME Jumbo Vacuum Storage Bags is currently £11.38 at Amazon, down from an RRP of £17.99. That represents a 37% saving of £6.61 and works out at approximately £1.63 per bag.

Each jumbo bag measures 39.35 by 27.55 inches, or roughly 100 by 70cm. That makes them large enough for storing bulky household items including double duvets, blankets, pillows, towels, curtains and seasonal clothing.

MEIQIHOME claims the space-saving storage bags can reduce their contents by as much as 80%. The exact amount of space saved will depend on what goes inside, with soft and fluffy items such as bedding and winter coats likely to compress more effectively than tightly folded clothing.

Using the bags should be reasonably straightforward. Once the contents have been loaded and the double-zip closure securely sealed, a household vacuum cleaner can be attached to the valve to remove the air.

A triple-seal valve is designed to prevent air from creeping back inside during longer periods of storage. Each valve also has a screw cap and rubber stopper, which the manufacturer warns should not be removed.

The jumbo vacuum storage bags could be particularly useful for reclaiming room inside wardrobes, beneath beds or in airing cupboards. They may also help households rotate clothing between seasons without dedicating half a wardrobe to thick jumpers and padded coats throughout the summer.

Bedding is another obvious candidate. Spare duvets and pillows are useful when visitors arrive, but less welcome when they spend the rest of the year occupying an entire cupboard and attempting an escape every time the door opens.

As well as creating more room at home, the MEIQIHOME vacuum bags may prove useful when moving house. Compressing soft furnishings and clothing could reduce the number of boxes or containers required, while the clear plastic makes it easier to identify the contents without opening each bag.

The airtight design is also intended to keep stored items protected and contained. However, users should make sure fabrics are completely clean and dry before sealing them for a prolonged period, particularly if the bags will be kept somewhere prone to dampness or temperature changes.

Amazon shoppers have awarded the MEIQIHOME vacuum storage bags an average score of 4.3 out of five stars from more than 17,000 ratings. More than 6,000 packs were reportedly bought during the past month, and the product carries an Amazon’s Choice label.

Several other configurations are available on the listing, including smaller bags, mixed-size packs and bundles supplied with a travel pump. The discounted seven-pack does not appear to include a pump, so buyers will need access to a compatible household vacuum cleaner.

At £11.38, the seven jumbo bags are cheaper per item than several of the alternatives shown. A six-pack of XXL bags costs £24.46, while ten jumbo bags are listed at £25.52 at the time of writing.

The retailer is also advertising a 5% multibuy saving when four qualifying products are purchased. Eligibility and the final price should be checked in the basket, as Amazon deals and additional promotions can change without warning.

Buyers should confirm that the seven-jumbo configuration is selected and review the latest price and delivery information before paying. The bags should also be inspected for damaged seals or valves before being used for long-term storage.
