Leeds United latest news: Crystal Palace reaction and international break lookahead

The latest Leeds United news throughout the day including updates ahead of the extended international break.

Leeds United remain unbeaten in the Premier League heading into the international break with their impressive start good enough for fifth in the table.

Daniel Farke’s side drew 0-0 at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday, a performance which was far from vintage with the home side registering just two shots on target. Dominic Calvert-Lewin had the best chance on 56 minutes but his effort from a James Justin cross was straight at goalkeeper Water Benitez.

That came just a few minutes after Leeds thought they’d gone behind, with Tyrick Mitchell sneaking in at the back post to finish a deflected Anan Khalaili cross. But there was reprieve for the majority inside Elland Road when a VAR review adjudged the crosser to have been just offside in the build-up.

Farke admitted Leeds were ‘a bit too slow in the head’ going forward at times with chances at a premium on a frustrating day overall. But the Whites boss was happy with a clean sheet which guaranteed at least a point and the extension of their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign.

The clean sheet also ensures Leeds don’t enter this unusual international break on the back of a disappointing defeat. It will be three weeks until Farke’s side play again with the traditional September and October breaks combined into one, with most nations playing four fixtures.

Almost a dozen Leeds first-team players will be away on international duty including Calvert-Lewin, Ethan Ampadu and Tarik Muharemovic - but likely not the injured Harry Wilson. Trafford might also hope for some minutes as he pursues the England No.1 spot at some point in the future.

While those internationals jet off to represent their countries, Farke still has a decent group to work with including first-team talisman Noah Okafor and exiting summer arrival Jean-Matteo Bahoya. The 21-year-old made his debut for a few minutes off the bench during Sunday’s draw.

Stay tuned for the latest Leeds news throughout the day including what’s on the horizon for those internationals...
