Leeds United confirm loan exit and possible permanent deal with Serie A relegation battlers

Leeds United have confirmed the loan and possible permanent exit of a first team attacker.

Jack Harrison travelled to Italy ahead of the weekend to complete a medical and finalise his move to Serie A battlers Fiorentina. The YEP understands that the loan move includes an option for the Florence club to take Harrison permanently in the summer for a sum of around £6m.

A club statement said: "Leeds United can confirm Jack Harrison has joined Italian side ACF Fiorentina on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season.

"The winger will join La Viola as they look to climb the Serie A table, with the team currently just outside of the relegation positions. Harrison has featured 13 times in all competitions for the Whites this season and now heads to Stadio Artemio Franchi for the remainder of the campaign. Everyone would like to wish Jack well during his time away from the club."

The winger has been deemed surplus to requirements at Leeds having failed to win a starting place under Daniel Farke since returning to the club from consecutive season-long loan spells with Everton. Harrison twice exercised a clause in his contract that allowed him to move on loan to a top flight side in the wake of Leeds' relegation to the Championship. When they were promoted, he became their player again but Farke has preferred Noah Okafor on the left wing. That and a switch to a back three with wing-backs, coupled with the imperious form of summer signing Gabriel Gudmundsson has restricted Harrison to just 263 minutes of Premier League football this season and 262 of those came in the first 11 games of the campaign.

Harrison joined Leeds initially on loan from Manchester City in 2018. Two more season-long loan deals followed before he made the move permanent in the summer of 2021, with Leeds paying £11m. In 219 appearances for the Whites Harrison has racked up 34 goals and 32 assists. He scored the goal that secured Premier League status on the final day of the 2021/22 season. Two years remain on his current contract at Leeds.
