Leeds United transfer rumours as 'advanced stage' claim made and double defender deal update

The latest transfer talk from Elland Road as Leeds United look to add to their squad during the January transfer window.

Leeds United are reportedly closing in on a loan deal for a Premier League defender as they look to conclude their first move of the January transfer window.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Newcastle United, Farke confirmed both Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle will miss the game at St James Park and Sunday’s FA Cup third round tie against Championship club Derby County and that appears to have triggered a move . He said: “So, what I can confirm is that Joe and Jayden Bogle were also today not in team training. Both are making good progress, but at the moment, it's perhaps more realistic that they are not ready for this game, but definitely then on the other side of the FA Cup fixture.”

Despite the positive news over the earlier than expected return of the duo, the Whites are still looking to the transfer market to improve their options at the back. Football Insider have claimed talks over a potential move for Chelsea’s French defender Axel Disasi are ‘at an advanced situation’ and described the deal as ‘highly likely to go through before the deadline’. The report suggests the Whites view the former Monaco man as an ideal candidate to boost their defensive ranks following the injury Rodon suffered in the recent draw at Sunderland and will look to take Disasi on loan in a move that they believe will benefit all parties involved.

Leeds United have been given a positive update in their reported interest in Hertha Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi.

The Dutch centre-back has been linked with a move to Elland Road in recent days as the Whites look to add to their options at the back. The former Vitesse Arnhem man is said to have caught the attention of the Leeds scouts after producing a number of impressive performances in a three-man defensive and for providing a consistent threat from set-pieces in recent seasons.

German outlet SportBild have reported the Bundesliga club are risking losing two of their prize assets for nothing during the summer as Doekhi and team-mate Diego Leite both approach the final months of their current contracts. Both players are said to be keen to depart and Leite has been strongly linked with a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce and Leeds have ‘set their sights’ on Doekhi and are reportedly considering a bid before the January transfer window comes to a close. The report states an offer of around £11.2m could be suitable and suggests a departure is ‘very likely’ if a deal can be agreed.
