Leeds United’s midfield unit could be set for change this summer as Daniel Farke’s side look to build on an impressive 2025/26 campaign. Elland Road recruitment chiefs are known to hold interest in Southampton’s young star Shea Charles and will no doubt have other options assessed.
Midfield is relatively well-stocked already with five core options all contributing last season, while attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson also dropped into the middle of the park when needed. The American could face increased competition for that role with one free agent eyed up and another virtually through the door.
Of course, a raft of new arrivals could pave the way for one or two difficult exits, while there are academy stars also exploring their pathways into senior football. Below, the YEP takes a look at what the Leeds midfield unit could look like next season.

7. LOAN: Rhys Chadwick
If it's decided that like Harry Gray, Chadwick has outgrown youth football then an EFL loan makes sense for the promising 19-year-old. | Getty Images

8. BUY: Shea Charles
Leeds' pursuit of the Southampton midfielder is close to becoming a saga with multiple bids knocked back. They clearly like the Northern Irishman but might need to fork out £30m to sign him. | Getty Images

9. KEEP: Brenden Aaronson
The attacking midfielder will always split opinion but one thing everyone can agree on is his work-rate. Leeds need to upgrade the position with difference-making quality but could do far worse than Aaronson as a good squad option. | AFP via Getty Images

10. FREE: Harry Wilson
The attacking midfielder/winger is expected to be announced as a Leeds player in due course with an agreement already reached. Anything close to his 10-goal-seven-assist 2025/26 campaign would be good going. | Getty Images

11. FREE: Julian Brandt
If Leeds can convince the 30-year-old of a move to the Premier League them it would be another great piece of business on a free. Brandt would bring serious, elite-level technical quality in the attacking midfield area. | Christof Koepsel/Getty Images
