Leeds United transfers as winger future decision made and Dutch star linked

The latest transfer talk from Elland Road as Leeds United look to add to their squad during the final weeks of the January transfer window.

Jack Harrison’s move to Fiorentina has led Leeds United to make a firm decision over the future of another member of Daniel Farke’s squad.

Harrison has made 13 appearances in all competitions so far this season but just three have come as part of the starting lineup and the former Manchester City and Middlesbrough winger has not started a Premier League fixture since a 2-0 defeat at Burnley in the middle of October.

Harrison was not in the squad for Saturday’s late win against Fulham as he closes in on an unexpected move to Serie A club Fiorentina in what is reportedly set to be an initial loan deal with an option to be converted into a permanent switch at a cost of around £6m. Harrison’s expected departure has reportedly led Leeds to end any thoughts of allowing Wilfried Gnonto to leave the club and one report suggests the Italy international has ‘got a role to play’ during the remainder of the season.

Speaking via Football Insider, Pete O’Rourke said: “I think he’s still going to be part of their plans, especially now that it looks like Jack Harrison is leaving Leeds to go to Fiorentina. I don’t think Daniel Farke will want to weaken his squad any further without reinforcements coming in. Gnonto will have a role to play in Farke’s side in the second half of season. Leeds have been on a good run of form, so it’s been hard for him to break in to the starting XI. But he’s made an impact when he has come off the bench, he started the FA Cup game against Derby and he got a goal in that one. So yeah I still think he’s got a role to play for Leeds in the second half of the season.”

Serie A winger linked with Whites

Leeds reportedly remain keen to add to their options in attacking areas after the Whites completed the loan signing of Brighton and Hove Albion star Facundo Buonanotte.

One name that has been suggested as a possible target for the Whites is Napoli winger Noa Lang, who has endured a testing first six months in Serie A after making a summer move from Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven. Since joining the Italian champions in a deal worth just over £20m, the 15-times capped Belgium international has made just nine starts in all competitions and reports in Italy have stated Antonio Conte could allow Lang to depart during the January transfer window to free up some funds to add to his squad.

Area Napoli have reported Leeds have made contact with the Italian club to register their interest - but will face competition from Wolfsburg, Monaco and Lyon should they choose to make an offer to take the winger on loan for the remainder of the season.
