Two-year Leeds United contract confirmed for Under-21s defender as statement released
Leeds United have confirmed a first professional contract for one Under-21s prospect.
Leeds United have announced the signing of a first professional contract for Under-21s left-back Louie Philpott.
Seventeen-year-old defender Philpott has put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Thorp Arch to keep him with the club until 2028. The left-back broke into the Under-21s picture last season.
That came at a time where more senior teammate Jayden Lienou was involved in some first-team matchday squads. Philpott has played five games across all competitions for the U21s this season.
A club statement read: “Leeds United are pleased to announce defender Louie Philpott has put pen-to-paper on a first professional contract with the club. The left-back has signed a two-year deal which will see him continue his development within the Academy at Thorp Arch until 2028.
“Having broken through into the Under-21s side towards the end of last season and scoring a first goal in the Premier League 2 against Manchester United Under-21s, Philpott has featured five times for Scott Gardner’s team so far this term in all competitions. Those appearances included valuable minutes against senior opposition in the National League Cup, lining up against Boreham Wood.
“Everyone at Leeds United would like to congratulate Louie on signing a first professional deal and we are excited to see his development with the club.”
