Discogs reveals the most collected artists and albums in the UK in 2025 - including Taylor Swift

The 2025 music collection data for the UK and Ireland paints a vivid picture of a nation that remains deeply in love with the tangible nature of music

As we approach the end of the year, it is clear that our record collections have become a fascinating battlefield where the immortal legends of the 20th century meet the high-concept, multi-variant superstars of the modern era.

On one hand, we saw the ‘reunion effect,’ led by the seismic return of Oasis, which sent shockwaves through the second-hand and archival markets as a new generation of fans scrambled to own the foundational pillars of Britpop.

On the other hand, we witnessed the sheer economic and cultural gravity of modern icons like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga, who have proven that they can command the same level of lifelong physical devotion as the legends of the 60s and 70s.

Nowhere is this passion more evident than on Discogs, the world's premier music database and marketplace.

By analysing the "haves" and "wants" of millions of users, the platform’s 2025 Year in Review provides a factual map of what fans actually added to their shelves.

From the sold-out limited editions of Sleep Token to the archival live pressings of Radiohead, these statistics show that 2025 was a year where many chose to stop scrolling and start spinning.

Leading the charge once again were The Beatles, who secured the top spot as the most collected artist in the UK and Ireland.

However, the biggest story in the UK was arguably the meteoric rise of Oasis. Following their monumental reunion announcement, the Gallagher brothers surged into the top three, as both long-time fans and a new generation of "reunion-ready" collectors scrambled to own their seminal 90s discography on wax.

The only modern titan to successfully breach this ‘Old Guard’ top ten was Taylor Swift.

In a list otherwise populated by legends from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, Swift has proven that she is the only contemporary artist currently commanding the same level of lifelong physical devotion as the greats.

Whether it was through her Record Store Day exclusives or her latest studio work, she remains the bridge between the streaming era and the traditional collector's market.

What are the most collected albums in the UK in 2025?

Dominating the field by an almost unbelievable margin is Taylor Swift with The Life Of A Showgirl.

With nearly 143,000 "haves" logged by collectors, the album has become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the year. This figure is more than triple that of her closest competitor, Lady Gaga, whose album Mayhem secured a strong second place.

Gaga’s presence, alongside Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, highlights a year where ‘High-Concept Pop’ completely revitalised the vinyl industry, bringing younger audiences into independent record shops in record-breaking numbers.

However, 2025 wasn't just about pop royalty.

The year saw a massive surge in ‘cult collecting,’ led by the anonymous masked collective Sleep Token. Their album, Even In Arcadia, proves that heavy, atmospheric rock still commands a fiercely loyal physical following.

We also saw a continuation of “Cool Britannia” this year, with veteran acts like Suede and Saint Etienne proving their longevity, while Radiohead continued to rule the archival market with their 2003-2009 live recordings.
