Beloved TV star Bluey set for a story time at the Merrion Centre for a free half-term event this May
Everyone’s beloved Australian Blue Heeler is set to entertain Leeds audiences with a special story time this half-term
If your household is currently ruled by a six-year-old Blue Heeler pup from Brisbane, you’ll know that Bluey is more than just a TV show - it’s become a way of life.
From ‘Keepy Uppy’ to ‘Magic Xylophone,’ the adventures of Bluey and Bingo have captured the imaginations of children (and, let’s be honest, adults) worldwide.
Now, parents in Leeds are being handed a massive half-term win as the Merrion Centre announces a day of free, interactive story time sessions on May 27.
Taking place in The Green area on the main mall, the event is designed to bring the screen to life. Forget a quiet, sit-still-and-listen library session; these are 30-minute interactive performances led by a professional storyteller.

The sessions are designed to be high-energy, encouraging audience participation where children can join in with Bluey’s playful antics.
With multiple sessions scheduled between 11am and 3pm, there are plenty of opportunities to catch the action, though families are being urged to arrive early as the mall is expected to be busy.
The event is the latest in a string of high-profile, accessible entertainment offerings from the Merrion Centre.
James Broughton, Head of Marketing & Communications at Town Centre Securities PLC (owners of the Merrion Centre), said: "We’re delighted to be bringing another fantastic free event to the Merrion Centre this May half term.
“Events like these are a great way to bring families together and create a lively, welcoming atmosphere, and we’re excited to see visitors enjoy the fun that Bluey’s story time sessions will bring."
Half-term in the city centre can often feel like a budget-buster, but the Bluey sessions are designed to be part of an affordable day out for the whole family. Visitors can refuel after the excitement of the story by exploring the centre’s wide array of cafes and restaurants—perfect for a "muffin" break or a quick lunch.
To help tackle one of the biggest hurdles of a city centre visit, families can also take advantage of a specific deal at CitiPark Merrion Centre, which offers up to 12 hours of parking for just £5 when pre-booked using the code ALLDAY5.
Best of all, in a world of ‘pre-booked only’ events, these sessions are a breath of fresh air; no tickets are required, making it the perfect option for a spontaneous and stress-free trip into town.
