West Yorkshire comedian Chris Cantrill talks village mysteries, local politics, and his 2026 Edinburgh Comedy Award win as he brings Rewilding to Leeds

Fresh off winning the prestigious 2026 Edinburgh Comedy Award, West Yorkshire’s own Chris Cantrill has announced a return to home soil as part of his major nationwide tour.

The comedian, writer, and actor - known as one-half of the acclaimed double act The Delightful Sausage alongside Amy Gledhill - will bring his brand-new solo show, Rewilding, across 24 dates, including a Soho Theatre Residency later this year spanning 11 dates.

Having taken the top accolade at the Edinburgh Fringe on his fourth nomination, Cantrill’s Rewilding offers a hilariously dark, offbeat spin on rural community dynamics.

The premise hits close to home for the comic, who has lived in a small rural village near Sycamore Gap on the Cumbria–Northumberland border since 2020.

Having embraced quiet village life - whittling, signing for packages, and glaring at passing hikers - his character is drawn into chaos when a beloved local tree is felled in the dead of night, leaving an outsider determined to make the entire mystery about himself.

Directed by Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Tom Parry, the show mixes Cantrill’s signature rapid-fire gag rate with subversive storytelling about local justice, village politics, and keeping a watchful eye on your neighbours.

Beyond his Fringe success, Cantrill has established himself across television, radio, and comedy writing.

He recently joined the writing team for SNL UK, contributed to BAFTA-winning video game Thank Goodness You're Here, and co-created BBC Radio 4’s hit comedy Icklewick FM.
