All the unmissable gigs and concerts coming to Leeds this weekend - including GEESE and Jehnny Beth

If you thought the Leeds music scene was taking a breather, think again...

Though it may not feel it, seeing tours announced and heading any other area but Leeds, the sheer variety of world-class talent passing through our venues over the next seven days proves that the city remains one of the best places in the North to catch a live show.

While the buzz is already building for a massive few days ahead - with the genre-bending Danny Brown at Project House on Monday (March 23) and the visual spectacle of Gorillaz taking over the First Direct Arena on March 25 - there is plenty to get stuck into before the Monday morning alarm clocks go off.

From visceral metalcore in industrial spaces to the "coolest band in New York" making their way to a bigger stage, the next three days are packed.

Whether you’re looking for an intimate DIY set or a full-throttle Academy show, here are our top picks for ‘summat’ to see over the weekend in Leeds.

Geese (Sunday - O2 Academy Leeds)

The Brooklyn quintet are arguably the most exciting thing in indie-rock right now.

Following the massive success of their latest album, ‘Getting Killed,’ the show was moved to the O2 Academy to accommodate the rush for tickets. Blending 70s rock swagger with a modern, frenetic edge, they are the perfect way to spend a Sunday night.

Jehnny Beth (Saturday - Boom)

For something more intimate and intense, the Savages frontwoman takes over the DIY surroundings of Boom.

Known for her magnetic, often confrontational stage presence, Jehnny Beth is a true force of nature. This is a rare chance to see a global alternative icon in one of Leeds’ best-kept-secret venues.

Fit For A King (Friday - Project House)

Kick off the weekend with a dose of high-intensity Texas metalcore.

Fit For A King are bringing their Lonely God tour to Armley Road, joined by a massive supporting cast including Memphis May Fire, Acres, and 156/Silence.

It’s set to be one of the loudest rooms in the city this Friday - perfect for those who want to start the weekend at maximum volume.
