Yorkshire legends Heaven 17 announce Leeds date for ‘Penthouse and Pavement’ 45th anniversary show
Synth-pop pioneers Martyn Ware and Glenn Gregory are set to celebrate their landmark debut album with a massive UK tour hitting Leeds this autumn.
Sheffield-born synth-pop icons Heaven 17 have announced a major UK tour for October 2026, marking the 45th anniversary of their seminal debut album, 'Penthouse and Pavement,‘ with the tour set to be a definitive celebration of the record that helped define a generation of electronic funk.
Released in 1981, Penthouse and Pavement was a bold departure for Ware and Ian Craig Marsh following their exit from The Human League.
By recruiting the soulful vocals of Glenn Gregory, Heaven 17 created a sound that was politically sharp, rhythmically complex, and dance-floor ready. Hits like (We Don't Need This) Fascist Groove Thang remain as culturally relevant today as they were four decades ago.

While the band’s most recent studio recording, ‘Naked As Advertised,’ dates back to 2008, they have remained a formidable force on the live circuit, releasing a steady stream of acclaimed live albums and compilations that capture their evolving electronic arrangements.
The upcoming October run serves as the climax to an incredibly busy year for the duo, following a summer of high-profile appearances alongside Holly Johnson at Halifax’s Live At The Piece Hall and OMD at York Museum Gardens.
Reflecting on the album's enduring legacy, founding member Martyn Ware said: “This will be a fantastic tour to celebrate the influence that Penthouse and Pavement had on a generation of electronic funk lovers.
“We can’t wait!"
