The Scottish alt-rock legends and English post-punk icons will join forces for a co-headline UK tour stopping in Leeds in early 2027, following a hugely successful joint run across America

Alt-rock pioneers The Jesus and Mary Chain and legendary post-punk outfit The Psychedelic Furs have announced a major co-headline UK tour, bringing two of the most influential British bands of the 1980s to West Yorkshire early next year.

The joint eight-date arena and academy tour follows a highly successful run of co-headline shows across the United States in 2024, with the upcoming UK leg promises full-length sets from both acts, spanning four decades of ground-breaking alternative guitar music.

Formed in Scotland by brothers Jim and William Reid in 1983, The Jesus and Mary Chain became one of the defining acts of the decade.

Their seminal 1985 debut Psychocandy - featuring the iconic track ‘Just Like Honey ’-introduced a trailblazing blend of abrasive feedback and pop melodies that helped birth the entire shoegaze movement.

Far from purely relying on nostalgia, the band continues to hit new creative heights.

Their acclaimed eighth studio album, Glasgow Eyes, released in early 2024 to celebrate their 40th anniversary, shot straight into the UK Top 10.

They will share the stage with London-formed post-punk stalwarts The Psychedelic Furs. Led by frontman Richard Butler, the band emerged from the late-1970s art-rock scene before achieving massive international fame.

Driven by Butler’s unmistakable raspy vocals and the band's rich, saxophone-tinged post-punk sound, they delivered enduring classics including ‘Love My Way,’ ‘Heaven,’ and ‘Pretty in Pink’—which became a cultural touchstone after inspiring the 1986 John Hughes film of the same name.

Much like their tourmates, the Furs have enjoyed a modern critical renaissance, releasing their acclaimed comeback record Made of Rain in 2020.
