Leeds Abbey Dash confirms 2026 return as entries officially open for iconic 10K - here's how to apply

The historic city-centre race will return this November, doubling as the England Athletics 10K Championship to attract the nation's elite runners alongside thousands of fundraisers

Entries have officially opened this morning for the 2026 Leeds Abbey Dash, with organisers bracing for a massive surge in demand for one of the UK’s most legendary road races.

The beloved 10K will take over the streets of Leeds on November 29, with thousands of runners of all ages and abilities - ranging from first-time charity fundraisers to elite athletes hunting down lightning-fast personal bests - expected to secure their spots.

This marks the second year the event will be delivered under the stewardship of Run For All, the legacy organisation of the late Jane Tomlinson CBE, following nearly 40 years of management by Age UK.

The national charity returns as the lead partner for 2026, with runners heavily encouraged to use their places to raise vital funds for older people across the region and the wider UK.

In a major boost for the event's prestige, the 2026 Leeds Abbey Dash has once again been selected by England Athletics as its official 10K Championship race.

The designation cements its slot as a premier fixture on the British running calendar, meaning the front of the pack will feature some of the fastest athletes in the country.

To qualify for a restricted elite entry place, female runners must clock a sub-36:00 10K time, while male entrants must boast a sub-30:30 record.

Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All, said: “We are incredibly excited to launch the 2026 Leeds Abbey Dash and build on the success of last year’s event.

"The Abbey Dash is a great race with a long-standing place in Leeds’ sporting calendar. Whether you’re aiming for a personal best, taking on your first 10k, or running to support Age UK, we’d encourage anyone thinking about taking part to sign up early."

As thousands prepare to take on the famous out-and-back route toward Kirkstall Abbey, charity bosses are highlighting how crucial the winter event is for vulnerable communities.

Hannorah Lee, Fundraising Director at Age UK, added: “We’re proud to be the lead charity partner once again, with funds raised helping to support older people in Leeds and beyond.

“Run For All delivered a fantastic event last year, and I’d encourage anyone considering taking part to get involved. By supporting Age UK, you’ll help older people feel included and valued.”

How to secure your entry for the Leeds Abbey Dash 2026

General public entries officially went live at 10am today (June 19), following a brief two-hour priority window for those who pre-registered.

Because places are strictly capped and the race historically sells out well ahead of the winter deadline, runners are urged to sign up immediately.

Entries, route maps, and charity fundraising packs can be found on the official website.
