Leeds Gig Guide: This weekend's concerts in the city including Mandy, Indiana and Simeon Walker

It has been a landmark week for live music in Leeds - and the weekend is set to continue that trend.

In the last seven days alone, we’ve seen the city buzzing with everything from the art-rock energy of Geese and a long-awaited return from Detroit rap legend Danny Brown, to the nostalgic pop of Scouting For Girls and a massive, career-spanning spectacle from Gorillaz at the First Direct Bank Arena.

The pace isn't slowing down as we head into the weekend, either.

While the arena-sized stars have moved on, the real magic of the Leeds scene is taking over our most iconic independent stages.

Whether you want to witness the ‘next big thing’ in Irish rock or lose yourself in the pristine acoustics of the Howard Assembly Room, the next three days are packed.

Mandy, Indiana (Brudenell Social Club – Friday)

If you want to see the boundaries of rock being pushed to the limit, this is the one.

Hailing from the Manchester/Berlin underground, Mandy, Indiana have just released their second album, URGH, to massive acclaim. Expect a visceral, industrial-leaning soundscape that blends jagged noise with club-ready techno beats.

Frontwoman Valentine Caulfield delivers her lyrics entirely in French, a staccato, rhythmic performance that feels more like an instrument than a vocal.

They are taking over the Brudenell’s ‘Null Club’ (a specialised room/night curated by Gilla Band’s Alan Duggan), which is the perfect claustrophobic, high-energy setting for their sound.

Simeon Walker and Dilettante (Howard Assembly Room – Friday)

For those seeking a more reflective start to the weekend, this double-bill is an absolute must. Leeds’ own Simeon Walker has become a leading light in the global "Modern Classical" scene, racking up over 50 million streams with his delicate, cinematic piano compositions.

His style is all about the "space between the notes"—perfectly suited for the pristine acoustics of the Howard Assembly Room.

He is joined by Dilettante, the art-pop brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Francesca Pidgeon (formerly of BC Camplight). Fresh from the release of her 2025 album Life of the Party, she is a ‘multi-instrumentalist maelstrom,’ looping saxophones, guitars, and vocals to create a sound that is part St. Vincent, part Fiona Apple.

Expect a night that moves from quiet, solo piano solitude to lush, sophisticated pop arrangements.

Basht. (Brudenell Social Club – Saturday)

If there is one band currently carrying the torch for the next generation of Irish rock, it is Dublin’s Basht.

Fresh from a massive support slot with Wunderhorse and a standout set at SXSW in Austin earlier this month, the quintet arrives in Leeds as part of their biggest UK headline tour to date. Their sound is a high-stakes blend of ‘heavy and hungry’ alternative rock, anchored by frontman Jack Leavey’s brooding, magnetic stage presence.

With their EP ‘Bitter & Twisted’ garnering five-star reviews and their first full-length album on the horizon for 2026, this sold-out show at the Brudenell is likely the last time you'll see them in a room this intimate
