The actor returns to his musical roots as he looks to “go out after all of these years” and perform live
- Peter Capaldi has announced his first-ever headline tour of the UK in 2026.
- The actor is set for a date in Leeds taking place next March.
- It comes after the release of two solo albums, St. Christopher and Sweet Illusions, in 2021 and 2025, respectively.
From stage to screen to now music venues: acclaimed Scottish performer Peter Capaldi, known for his roles as the Twelfth Doctor, Malcolm Tucker and John Frobisher in ‘Torchwood: Children of Earth’ is going back to his musical roots with his first UK headlining tour in 2026.
Music has always been an important part of Capaldi’s life: as an art student in Glasgow, he was the lead singer and guitarist for punk band The Dreamboys (formerly known as The Bastards from Hell), which notably saw future talk show great Craig Ferguson accompany him on drums.
They managed to release one three-song live EP on an indie label, featuring the track Bela Lugosi's Birthday, but Capaldi has noted his lasting "bitter and twisted" feeling that they were virtually the only Glasgow band to never secure a session with legendary DJ John Peel.
But Capaldi "never lost his love for music," and in recent years, his songwriting took centre stage, culminating in two full-length albums: 2021’s St. Christopher and 2025’s Sweet Illusions.
Now, with the new tour, the dark synths, fuzzy guitars, and noirish romanticism of that young rocker will be on display as he finally gets to share his original music live with an audience.
Speaking about the upcoming tour, Capaldi remarked: “Recording, with all the advantages of the digital age is one thing, playing live is another, but I wanted to see if I could go out after all of these years and play live in front of an audience. We’ll let’s see what happens.
“I’ve lucked out with my band, a group of wonderful young musicians who have bravely come on board for the ride.”
