From the Lake District and Yorkshire to Scotland and Wales, these autumn stays offer a chance to slow down and switch off.
There’s something about autumn that makes me want to get away for a few days. The summer holidays are over, the evenings are getting darker and I’m more than ready for a change of scenery. I’ve just been looking at Parkdean Resorts’ Grown-Up Getaways and, if you’re after a break that feels a little more relaxing and grown-up, there are plenty of options across the North of the UK worth knowing about.
From the Lake District and Lancashire to Northumberland, Yorkshire, Scotland and Wales, there are coast and countryside locations to choose from, making it easy to swap the usual routine for a few days somewhere completely different.
The idea behind the Grown-Up Getaways is simple. They’re designed for adults who want to enjoy a holiday at their own pace, whether that means getting out and exploring during the day or staying closer to the resort and enjoying some of the activities on offer.
Autumn is one of those seasons where the destination can do a lot of the work for you. A crisp walk through the countryside, a coastal stroll when the air is chilly or an afternoon exploring somewhere new can be enough to make a short break feel like a proper reset.
There’s plenty of choice when it comes to accommodation too, from traditional caravans and cottages to glamping pods, safari tents and lodges with hot tubs. So if your idea of switching off involves a little more comfort, there are options for that too.
The Grown-Up Getaways are available outside of school holiday periods. That could make autumn a particularly appealing time to go, especially if you’re looking for a quieter break without the usual school holiday rush. And if you want to make the trip feel even more like a proper escape, Parkdean Resorts also has the option to upgrade to an all-inclusive experience at selected locations.
