With impressive suction, a lightweight design and one of the longest battery lives in its class, the Shark BH102UK is a capable handheld vacuum, although a few omissions stop it being perfect.
When it comes to handheld vacuums, it's easy to assume you're paying a premium for convenience rather than performance. But the Shark BH102UK aims to be much more than a quick clean-up tool, promising powerful suction, an impressive 40-minute runtime and a car cleaning kit that makes it just as useful in the garage as it is around the home. If you're looking for a handheld vacuum, it's certainly one to consider.
The standout feature is its combination of strong suction and low weight. It tackles everything from fine dust to larger crumbs with ease, while remaining comfortable to carry around the house or manoeuvre around a car interior. The adjustable suction settings and clear LED display also make everyday use straightforward, while the generous battery life means most small household jobs can be completed without constantly reaching for the charger. The included hose and accessories also make a noticeable difference when cleaning the car, helping reach awkward areas that are often missed with larger vacuums. However, the review points out that calling it a complete car cleaning kit feels optimistic, as a proper slim crevice tool isn't included and has to be bought separately. If you're weighing up the buying options, that's worth factoring into the overall cost.
Battery life also depends heavily on the suction mode you choose. While the quoted runtime is achievable on lighter settings, using maximum power drains the battery much faster. A storage bag for the accessories would also have been a welcome addition. Even so, these drawbacks don't overshadow what is otherwise a highly capable cordless cleaner. For anyone wanting a premium Shark BH102UK that can take on everyday household mess and regular car cleaning, it makes a strong case.
