More than 5,000 of the compact five-in-one adaptors were bought last month, with USB-C, three USB-A ports and a UK socket included
British holidaymakers can power five devices from a single European socket with a compact travel adaptor currently priced at £9.99 on Amazon.
The Omivine UK-to-European travel adaptor combines a three-pin UK socket with one USB-C port and three USB-A connections. Its five-in-one design could reduce the collection of plugs and chargers taking up space in a suitcase, particularly when several devices need charging overnight.
Amazon has reduced the single adaptor from its £13.99 RRP to £9.99, representing a saving of £4 or 29%. A twin pack is also available for £18.99, although the one-pack deal is fractionally cheaper per adaptor at the current prices.
The £9.99 European plug adaptor has attracted strong customer feedback, carrying an average rating of 4.6 out of five stars from more than 3,400 reviews. It also holds an Amazon’s Choice badge, while the retailer says more than 5,000 were bought in the past month.
Its front-facing three-pin socket accepts a standard UK plug, allowing travellers to connect compatible equipment without a separate converter. Phones, tablets and other USB-powered gadgets can be plugged into the four charging ports, potentially leaving the main socket free for a laptop charger, shaver or another suitable appliance.
Omivine rates the USB-C travel adaptor at 5V/3A through its USB-C connection. Each USB-A port is rated at 5V/2.4A, while the main socket supports a stated maximum load of 2,500W.
One crucial distinction is that this is a plug adaptor, not a voltage converter. It changes the physical connection but does not transform the electricity supplied to an appliance.
Before connecting equipment such as hair dryers or styling tools, travellers should check the input label and confirm that it supports the local voltage. Omivine advises using appliances with an input range of 100V to 250V. Connecting an incompatible single-voltage product could damage it or create a safety risk.
The grounded Type E/F adaptor is intended for many popular European destinations, including France, Spain, Germany, Greece, Iceland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Norway, Poland, Austria, Turkey, Finland and Sweden.
It is not universal across the whole continent, however. The listing specifically warns that it is unsuitable for countries including Italy and Switzerland, where different socket arrangements may be encountered. Anyone visiting several destinations should check the plug type used in each country before travelling.
Safety features listed by Omivine include protection against overloads, excessive current, over-voltage, short circuits and overheating. The casing is described as flame retardant up to 750C, while a child-safety shutter is designed to help prevent objects being pushed into the socket.
At around 100g, the Omivine European travel plug should add little weight to cabin luggage. Its compact shape is also designed to sit securely in a wall socket rather than sagging under the weight of connected cables and plugs.
Amazon notes that customers usually keep this item, which can be a useful additional confidence signal for a travel accessory. Free returns are advertised, and shoppers buying several eligible products may also qualify for 5% off four items, subject to the promotion’s conditions.
Travellers heading to a compatible European destination can view the Omivine adaptor deal at Amazon and check the latest price before packing.
Prices and availability can change, and users should always confirm plug compatibility, appliance voltage and total power requirements for their destination before connecting any equipment.
