Rising star Kerr Mercer drops debut EP after hitting the stage at inaugural Roundhay Festival
The rising Scottish singer-songwriter who recently took to the main stage at Roundhay Park supporting Lewis Capaldi has officially released his debut EP
An acclaimed songwriter is looking ahead to a massive summer on the festival circuit following a landmark live appearance in Leeds.
Fresh from opening for Lewis Capaldi in front of thousands of music fans on the rolling hillsides as part of the first Roundhay Festival, singer-songwriter Kerr Mercer has earlier this week unveiled his highly anticipated debut body of work.
Titled ‘In The Hours After,’ the five-track EP has been released via AWAL and marks a major milestone for the Lanarkshire-born artist, whose soulful vocals and top-class songwriting have quickly earned him a fiercely loyal live following.

The extended play features his viral online hits 'Stop Me Dead', 'Love Me Twice', 'Terrified', and 'Alcohol'—the latter of which has already surpassed one million digital streams since dropping last year.
Capping off the tracklist is his brand new focus single, 'Hurts', which pairs raw, heartfelt lyricism with the kind of soaring chorus that is rapidly becoming the young artist's signature trademark.
Kerr’s rapid ascension across the UK music scene comes down to an organic, performance-first approach.
For the last few years, the musician made a deliberate decision to tour extensively before officially releasing any studio material, allowing real audiences to connect with his music face-to-face and selling out venues based entirely on word of mouth and live clips.
That reputation as a must-see live performer saw him progress from early open mic nights in Glasgow to a legendary sold-out headline show at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, alongside a recent breakthrough slot opening the main stage at Glasgow's TRNSMT festival.
His striking live sound has also caught the attention of major industry broadcasters. Mr Mercer recently recorded a live session at Maida Vale Studios for Jess Iszatt’s BBC Introducing radio show and has picked up significant airplay support from the team at BBC Radio 1 Future Artists.
The star-studded backing does not stop there, with the young songwriter earning high praise from global charting heavyweights like Teddy Swims, Myles Smith, and fellow countryman Lewis Capaldi.
After sharing the bill with Capaldi during the massive outdoor summer event in West Yorkshire, Kerr is now preparing for the biggest performance of his career so far.
This weekend, he will travel down to London to support Capaldi once again across two consecutive daytime dates at the American Express presents BST Hyde Park (July 11 and 12).
Following his high-profile capital appearances, the rising star will keep his extensive summer touring schedule moving with an upcoming slot secured at the Boardmasters Festival in Newquay.
With In The Hours After now officially out in the world, the young artist continues a remarkably exciting year on the road, proving that the absolute sky is the limit.
Kerr Mercer’s debut is available to buy and stream now through all leading record stores and digital music outlets.
