West End smash hit 'A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong' heading to Leeds Grand Theatre this December

West End smash A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong is coming to Leeds Grand Theatre this December

Despite reservations that Christmas shopping seems to start a little earlier every year, Leeds Grand Theatre knows that leaving plans to the last minute is always a recipe for festive chaos.

So why not plan for a guaranteed Christmas show rather than clutching at straws - and staring down sold-out box offices - in late November?

If your idea of festive cheer involves crumbling set pieces, missing cast members, and precision-engineered theatrical disarray, the historic New Briggate venue has bagged a massive comedy pull for its 2026 winter lineup.

Mischief Theatre - the multi-award-winning team behind The Play That Goes Wrong, Peter Pan Goes Wrong, and The Comedy About a Bank Robbery - is bringing their hit production of A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong to the city as part of a major UK tour.

The laugh-out-loud production sees the hopelessly optimistic, utterly incompetent, and prone-to-disaster Cornley Amateur Drama Society attempt to tackle Charles Dickens' classic ghost story.

Unsurprisingly, bitter backstage rivalries over who gets to play Scrooge, failing mechanical props, missing cues, and catastrophic set malfunctions quickly derail the performance into pure slapstick hilarity.

Created as a hugely popular BBC television special in 2017 before expanding into a sold-out West End run at London's Apollo Theatre, this expanded stage show offers a chaotic, laughter-filled alternative to traditional pantomime for families, comedy lovers, and festive evening crowds alike.

When is A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong taking place at Leeds Grand Theatre?

The hit comedy lands in the city for a strictly limited five-day run from December 8 to 12.

Performances will run daily with both evening slots and afternoon matinees scheduled across the week. The show has a total running time of approximately two hours and 20 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.

Due to mild theatrical language and fast-paced physical slapstick violence, the show carries an age guidance of 8+.

When and where can I get tickets to A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong?

Tickets are available to book online right now directly through the official Leeds Heritage Theatres website, as well as over the phone or in person via the Leeds Grand Theatre box office.

Standard ticket prices range from £31 to £55 depending on seating band, with top-tier private boxes available from £71 per person.

Early booking is strongly advised, as Mischief Theatre productions routinely sell out during their tour dates across the region.
