They will be joined by very special guests, the Mercury Prize-winning indie-art-rock quartet from Leeds, English Teacher. This gig is a major homecoming celebration for the local heroes, who recently won the prestigious 2024 Mercury Prize for their critically acclaimed debut album, This Could Be Texas.

Synth-pop legends The Human League take the stage for the second night of the Sounds Of The City series.

Formed in Sheffield in 1977, the band's influence on modern music is monumental; they were pioneers who established the blueprint for electronic pop music with their innovative use of synthesisers, setting the stage for decades of dance and electronic genres.

With a career spanning decades and an iconic catalogue of hits like the transatlantic number one ‘Don't You Want Me’ and ‘Fascination,’ the current lineup, featuring founding member Philip Oakey and vocalists Susan Ann Sulley and Joanne Catherall, is guaranteed to deliver a spectacular night.

They will be supported by fellow New Romantic and New Wave pioneers, ABC. This double bill provides a perfect, nostalgia-fuelled dive into the influential sound and distinctive style of 80s electronic music.
