Leeds Weekend Gig Guide: Yard Act, Angine de Potrine and this weekend's biggest gigs

Post-punk, Chicago House and ‘spazzcore’ - here’s some of this weekend’s concert highlights taking place in the city

If your plan for the next 72 hours involves anything other than standing in a dark room with a pint in hand, you might want to rethink your life choices.

The Leeds music scene is currently firing on all cylinders, and this weekend is a perfect example of why the city remains one of the North’s capitals of live sound.

We’ve moved past the pre-show hype and straight into a three-day stretch that feels like a miniature festival spread across our best-loved venues.

From a 90s house icon taking over a casino to a Sunday night at the Brudenell that swings from massive indie homecomings to masked avant-garde intensity, the variety is staggering.

Whether you're after the jagged energy of post-punk or a nostalgic dancefloor filler, we’ve narrowed down the chaotic schedule to the four essential sets that define the weekend, and the best of the rest the city has to offer.

Deadletter (Friday - The Wardrobe)

Kicking off the weekend with a shot of pure adrenaline, Deadletter brings their signature blend of jagged guitars and driving saxophones to The Wardrobe.

Known for their high-intensity live shows and sharp lyrical wit, they are the perfect post-election catharsis.

If you like your music loud, lean, and lyrically biting, this is where you need to be.

Kym Sims (Saturday - Victoria Gate Casino)

For something completely different, head to Victoria Gate for a dose of pure 90s nostalgia.

House legend Kym Sims - the voice behind the floor-filler ‘Too Blind to See It’ - is bringing the glamour and the groove to the casino. It’s a rare chance to see a dance music icon in an intimate, high-stakes setting.

Get your dancing shoes on; this one is for the house-heads.

Yard Act (Sunday - Brudenell Social Club)

The ultimate homecoming. It’s impossible to talk about the Leeds scene right now without mentioning Yard Act.

James Smith and company return to the hallowed turf of the Brudenell for a show that is bound to be the talk of the city on Monday morning.

Expect deadpan delivery, infectious basslines, and a room full of people who know every single word - and maybe pre-order a ‘dinked’ copy of their vinyl from Norman Records?

Angine de Potrine (Sunday - Brudenell Social Club)

If you’re sticking around the Brudenell (and you got a ticket very early when they went on sale), make sure you’re there for Angine de Poitrine.

This is for those who prefer the experimental and the avant-garde. It’s intense, atmospheric, and the perfect counterpoint to indie-rock.

A brilliant, challenging way to round off your weekend of live music.
